A bizarre day at newly relegated CD Tenerife ended with the sacking of coach Jose Luis Oltra who led the team up into the promised land of La Liga last season.

Earlier today club President Miguel Concepcion held a press conference about the way forward for the club, three days after relegation at Valencia. The President had been criticised during the season for not making funds available for new players, his defence was the need to reduce the clubs 30 million euro debt. Today he fired a broadside at the local media saying they had a lot to learn.

Then referring to the lack of funds in the January transfer window, Concepcion claimed that 2 million euros was made available to the Director of Football, Santiago Llorente, but he couldn’t find any players better than the current squad.

Puerto de la Cruz born Ayoze, a long serving fans favourite has already signed for La Liga side Sporting Gijon in a 3 year deal and other players are edging towards the exit door. Goal scorer Nino and captain Marc Bertran have both prevously said that they only want to stay if coach Oltra does.
