Exceptional weather conditions saw an early climax to the PWA World Cup in El Medano on Saturday 16 th July. In the mens competition Philip Koster of Germany was the winner followed by Tenerife based German Dany Bruch, Jaeger Stone of Australia and Kauli Seadi of Brazil. In the womens competition the Gran Canaria twins dominated as always with Daida Ruano Moreno winning from Iballa Ruano Moreno with Nayra Alonso of Spain third and Karin Jaggi of Switzerland in fourth.
The competition pace is very much dictated by the wind and tides and the El Medano event started a day early but even so they have cracked on at a fair pace to milk the perfect conditions. Most of the riders are committed to staying until the scheduled finish of 20 July, the next round begins in Sotavento, Fuerteventura on 22 July, the bars, chill out zone and party area remain in place so there is likely to be some exhibition windsurfing for the remaining days but more on that as it is confirmed.
