The Euro Nations Cup is a Ladies European Tour Golf event. It was held at La Sella Golf Course at Denia Nr Alicante, Spain between the 14th and 17th April. There are 18 teams competing in this year’s event, with two ladies from each country making up a team, all representing their respective countries.

Many of the best players in Europe and the U.S.A are playing in this event. I noticed Allison Nicholas the Ladies Solheim Cup captain (the ladies equivalent to the Ryder Cup) also one of her vice captains amongst the spectators. The players really want to do well at this event with the chance to show that they should get a coveted place in the Solheim team and at this event to represent their country on the world stage. I also spoke with Trish Johnston who was last years Tenerife Ladies Open winner when it was played at Beaunavista Golf Course. Trish was there as a spectator and happily spent the day walking round with the players and talking with the public.

Sweden were last years winners, as I write this after Round 2, they are leading the field. Having posted a spectacular 9 under par 63 in a Valencian Cup format, just 1 stroke ahead of Spain and 2 strokes in front of a strong Welsh team. Day 1 leader Australia, who shot a first day combined sensational four ball score of seven under par 65, are lying tied 5th with France.

I was fortunate enough to get an invite, from Robin @ Poodle Golf to play in the Pro-Am the day before the main event started. I played with the beautiful Russian golf pro Anastasia Kostina. We did well posting 8 birdies but not well enough to lift any prizes. The La Sella course was in splendid condition with fast tricky greens many of the ladies commented it was in even better order than it was at last years event.

My thanks go to Deporte and Business, who managed the whole tournament with surprising ease they even helped with my travel arrangements, organized clubs for the Pro-Am and also gave a weary photographer a lift in from the far flung reaches of the course. Well done Alicia and Inigo, I am sure all involved, including players and spectators, all enjoyed a splendid week of top level Ladies Professional Golf.

The next time we meet, Deporte and Business ,will be hopefully be right here in Tenerife as the company have been chosen to organize the Tenerife Ladies Match Play held at Las Americas golf course on 10th ““ 12th June 2011.

Hope to see you all there !
