Plot: Warty queen of the crones, Nanny Mcphee (Emma Thompson) travels forward in time 100 years from her last outing to help a farmer’s wife (Maggie Gylenhaal) struggling to run the family farm and bring up her children during the dark days of World War II. A scheming brother (Rhys Ifans) who wants to get his hands on the farm and two spoiled brats from the big smoke help make a desperate situation worse. Cue Nanny McPhee and her bag of morality teaching magic tricks.

TM Rating: If you’ve seen the first Nanny McPhee film you know exactly what you’re getting here ““ entertaining family fun, magic, special effects, laughs, pratfalls and a moral message which isn’t rammed down your throat. This is definitely one for the kids. Whilst Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang is great fun it lacks those little touches that Pixar includes in its movies to keep the adults entertained.

7/10 ““ It’s getting to the point where I could cut and paste this bit for the majority of English language films at GranSur”¦undemanding family fun blah, blah, blah. There’s nothing wrong with that, but more movies with a bit of depth would be nice.
